John Couch is considered by many as one of New Zealand's leading classical guitarists. As well as a solo artist, he is a member of the New Zealand Guitar Quartet and the Artistic Director of the Taranaki Classical Guitar Summer School. ​

  • The 2002 Australian International Guitar Competition,
  • The 2001 Gisborne International Music Competition for Orchestral Instruments,
  • The 2004 Taiwan International Guitar Competition.
Prizewinner in:
  • The 2003 36th International Guitar Competition "Michele Pittaluga" (Italy).

  • The Tokyo International Classical Guitar Competition.
Recipient of the Certificate of Distinction, Top 5 Most Outstanding Private Tutors 2021 across NSW/ACT, for Strings.
